Description:
To round off our festival we will be serving up a feast for all the senses with a screening of Eat Drink Man Woman accompanied by a celebration of international street food on Saturday June 1, 2013 in Station Square, Railton Road.
There’ll be entertainment plus a wide range of stalls serving up delicious street food from 6 pm and the film will start at around 9pm.
A touching, subtle comedy/drama Eat Drink Man Woman (Dir Ang Lee, 1994, Taiwan, Cert PG, 124 mins) explores the inter-generation friction within a traditional Chinese family. Focusing on the lives and relationships of a widowed Taipei chef and his three adult daughters, the film revolves around the sumptuous feasts he prepares for them all and the narrative is sprinkled with scenes of elaborate food preparation.
Eat Drink Man Woman was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar and is in Mandarin with English subtitles.
This is an outdoor screening without seats so please bring your own chairs, rugs or cushions. And as it’s an open air event we advise you to dress for British Summer weather! Even if it’s a lovely day, it will be chilly after dark.
This is a FREE event. No advance booking.
All our events are free to attend but donations to help fund future events are very welcome. Look out for collection buckets at screenings. Thank you for your generosity.
